ABOUT US

A Different Perspective, and proud of it.

Our founder and lead consultant, Craig Whitton, is an expert practitioner of Restorative Justice and Values-based leadership. Over the course of an 18-year career in higher education, Craig has been involved in managing thousands of conflicts and conduct cases, ranging from roommate disputes to acts of targeted violence against individuals and communities. Most of these incidents were resolved using the approach that Craig now teaches to others in our Core Questions Training.

His initial effort to share this knowledge began in 2017, under the banner of the Resilient Consulting Group, and Craig was quickly asked to deliver his Core Questions training to higher education institutions, human resources professionals, community leagues, primary school educators, and more. The results speak for themselves, and Craig's business was growing fast, as attendees of his training kept referring their friends and colleagues who could benefit from Craig's energy, perspective, and expertise. Like all of us, Craig had to pivot due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, but with that pivot came new opportunities to grow and learn.

Craig's professional experience includes strategic planning for international non-profit corporations, driving innovative and transformative change in the way PSIs create student experiences, leading emergency responses of all kinds both one on one and for entire organizations, instructing courses on Risk Management at one of Canada's largest polytechnic institutions, and relying on values-based leadership to create highly effective and collaborative teams that can achieve whatever objective is before them. Just like with his experience in his Core Questions training, Craig has a knack for storytelling and transferring these skills into easy-to-replicate systems for everyone else. Craig takes pride in his step-by-step approach to building the competency of his learners, his engaging training style, and his use of a broad variety of interests to create fun, unique, and highly effective training experiences -- from "Choose your Own Adventure" to "Dungeons & Dragons", Craig guarantees that not only will you and your colleagues learn valuable new skills working with him, but you'll also have a great time doing it. Craig will help you solve problems, and his goal is to make those solutions permanent with a focus on long-lasting competency and systems-based solutions. That means unlike many consultants, you won't have to keep hiring Craig over and over again to address the same problem - but you'll almost certainly want to hire him to help you with whatever new challenges you face!

In late 2022, Craig and his family relocated to British Columbia to continue Craig's passion for working in Higher Education and embrace a lifestyle that more authentically reflected how they want to live. Craig has always been a values-driven kind of person, and after some reflection and deep conversations with close friends, mentors, and colleagues on how he wanted to show up and move through the world, Craig realized that the previous brand of "Resilient" wasn't the "thing" that defined him. Craig and his family are incredibly resilient, of course, just like so many others, but he doesn't see "Resilience' as a quality he possesses on his own. Resilience is a gift that is given to him by  the wonderful people he has met along his life's journey, and those wonderful people have given Craig that gift because Craig is and always will be a values-driven person, who is authentically himself in every room he is in.

The move to British Columbia came with the opportunity to re-register his business in a new jurisdiction, and with that, select an identity that reflected how he works and lives - and Authentik Consulting and Training was born.

Authentik is a small, family-run firm where Craig takes on the responsibilities of being a Subject Matter Expert while his life & business partner Teryn tackles operations. While Authentik has a lot of skills to offer in compelling and unique ways, if you choose to work with Authentik, and we do not have the ability to give you what you need, we promise to find you someone who can from our vast network of wonderful people.

Craig is honoured to have been born and raised in the lands of the Anishinaapek in Northern Ontario. Teryn was born and raised in the traditional territories of the Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Mississauga, and Chippewa (Anishinaabe) people in an area covered by the Williams Treaties. They both received their formal education in the traditional territory of the Mississaguas of the Credit First Nation in Southern Ontario. They will forever be grateful for the 12 years spent learning from the Cree and Metis people of Treaty 6 Territory of Northern Alberta. Finally, they are incredibly humbled and honoured to live in the traditional and unceded territories of the Komoks First Nation in Comox, British Columbia, the home of Authentik Consulting and Training. The lands that each of these First Peoples call home has profoundly shaped the people they are, and has informed their belief that each of us has important work to do in the service of Truth and Reconciliation. If you would like to begin or further your own journey in this work, please check out the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

About: About

We believe that your time and attention is incredibly valuable, and so we try to avoid sending unwanted or annoying e-mails or messages. We also believe in "Plain Language" policy, and this section serves as our "Terms and Conditions" for how we interact with you. We are sharing this so you know what to expect from us, and to ensure we are being compliant with anti-spam legislation and communications regulations.

Email

We  want people to know about us, so we use LinkedIn Sales Navigator to research people who are in roles that we think might benefit from our training. If there appears to be a legitimate business interest in our product based on your role on LinkedIn, we will try to find your e-mail address on your company website. If it's publicly listed, we'll send you an e-mail to let you know, and this is the extent of our "Cold Email" approach.

If you have registered for an event with us, we will also e-mail you if we are bringing an event to your city, or have a new product we think you'd be interested in. You can opt out of these e-mails anytime.

Phone

As above, if we find you on LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and you seem to have a legitimate reason to benefit from our services (And that's a lot of people, because leadership skills are needed everywhere!), we will sometimes try to give you an "old fashioned" phone call if your number is publicly listed. And if we don't connect, we might follow up with an e-mail, as per the guidelines above.

If you call us, we will of course call you back, and we will save your contact information so we can connect via phone again in the future. If you don't want us to call you, you can opt out anytime by letting us know.

Text

We only send text messages to you if you call us and we miss your call. An automated text will be sent to your number saying "Sorry we missed you, you can text us back if that is easier than leaving a voicemail or if there is something you want us to know". Texting allows us to carry on a conversation over time - so if you text us, we'll text you back ASAP, but then you can take your time in responding when it's convenient. We do not use text messages for proactive outreach - only if you contact us first. And, if you want to stop sending us text messages, just reply "STOP" and we'll update our CRM to make sure you don't get those again.

What Info do you keep

(This is our Privacy Policy)

We receive and store the information you send us through out website, like e-mail address and contact info. We also keep any submissions you make in your Authentik Academy program, like assignments and quiz answers. Our website may also use cookies to enhance your experience and for analytics on the website, but you can opt out of those cookies via the popup page that you see when you visit us.

We want to keep track of how we work with our customers, because we want to make sure we both know what you need, and know what we've talked about in the past. Authentik relies on Hubspot Customer Relationship Management to track all of this stuff, and in that system we keep your name and contact information as well as any communications we've had with you. We do not currently have a Records Retention Policy, which means we keep this information indefinitely. If you'd like us to delete your customer data for any reason, please send an e-mail to contact@authentikconsulting.ca and we will do so immediately, no questions asked.

Any proposals or bespoke products we make while under contract with you are stored on secure servers managed by Google. In some cases, you or your organization may have purchased the rights to a particular product or service (i.e. if we do a custom training manual); in those cases we keep copies just in case you lose yours, but we do not share those with anyone else.
